Ryker has been asking for about a month when we were flying to see Grandma Susan and Grandpa Bob, Finally we could say today! We had a great time waking up at 3:30 am to get to the Salt Lake Airport for our 6:15am flight. Here is a picture of Alana and Ryker all excited for the big trip. Alana was asleep just after take off and slept until we got to Las Vegas. Chris taught Ryker how to say "its Vegas baby!" It is pretty funny!
Ryker finally took a nap on the way from the Birmingham Airport to the Grandparents home so it took a few minutes for him to warm up to them. Once he did he was having fun arm wrestling Grandpa Bob.
We watched
Conference on Sunday morning. the kids all pitched in and made a big breakfast. I made Lemon Cream Cheese Pull Aparts (I got the recipe from
Studio 5) - wow they were delicious and sooooooooo rich it was a good thing Chris and Greg had made some eggs and bacon to balance out the sugar. Alana thought it was so good she wanted her hair to try it so then it had to be washed out so she has a faux-hawk for a few minutes until it dried.
Ryker enjoying his breakfast and then going for a ride in the country!
We visited the Gray's and their goats. Alana still isn't very sure about animals but at least got to the point that we could set her down and then she was fascinated by their huge dog Sampson who is a Great Pyrenees.
Monday we headed down to the Montgomery Zoo and had a great time. Here are a few pictures- spider monkeys
Alligator
The Siamang's were really active swinging back and forth and calling to each other while we were there.
Elephants
How Ryker and Alana measure up to an elephant.

Parakeet Cove is filled with parakeets. You get to pay $2 for two little wood sticks with some birdseed on the end and as soon as you take them out of the envelope you are attacked by parakeets that get feed all day but act like they are starving.
Riding the train around the Zoo.
My wonderful friend Wendy Wood gave me a goodie bag, for my birthday, to take on our trip and Alana got some of the cookies and had a great time eating them.
Ryker set up the monopoly board but we never got a chance to play.
Enjoying some yummy taco salad after a hard day at the Zoo.
Tuesday morning we headed out to the U-Pick Strawberry Patch. I was in heaven! You can eat a few when you pick and I was told you could stack the strawberries as high as you could as long as they stayed on the bucket. When we got up to pay for our berries I was asked if I was going to come back, to not stack them that high --Oops! They were delicious. Susan made a pound cake and we ate strawberries and cream mmmmmm!
Alana playing peek-a-boo
The guys making the railing for the porch.
While they were sawing away I went around the corner and found these pretty flowers.
What the railing looked like when they got all the framing done.
Pistachio cake, even though the picture doesn't look that great it was oh so yummy!
Alana was having a rough morning on Wednesday. We took the kids to Lorretta Holt's to be watched while we went to the Birmingham Temple with other Branch members to do
Baptism's for the Dead.
A warning at the Holt's to other trackers what will happen to them if they get out of line.
Later in the day we rode bikes around the area.
Molly did well with the kids.
Grandma and Alana watching for us to come back from our ride.
