Zoo Time

Here we are at the Hogle Zoo. They have a ginormous elephant that will spray water at you - see the second picture, I thought it had already sprayed but apparently not.

This time we also attended the bird show which was amazing an owl flew right over us.

The kids on the Rhino.
Don't worry he is sleeping, it was really neat to see so close up.
Look closely and you can see a gorilla...
There he is in the tree!

Hiking Adam's Canyon

Memorial Day is a time to celebrate our freedom and honor those who have kept and are keeping us safe.  We also feel it is a time to enjoy the beginning of summer.  We went and hiked Adam's Canyon with Greg.  Chris carried Alana and Ryker all but the last bit, he was a real trooper!  Greg carried a log for part of it to prepare foe the Spartan Race that weekend and successfully managed to get sap all over his hands, head, and shirt.  It was a nice waterfall but it was pretty steep for Ryker.  We came home and had a great BBQ to end a great day.

Candyland with Greg

Greg came over and the boys had an exciting game of Candyland.  Ryker has been having a hard time when he doesn't win, this probably started when we played on day with him and he won all the games. If anyone else wins he is very distraught, so we are working on his sportsmanship skills.

Kennicott Copper Mine

We had a great day at the Kennicott Copper mine with our friends Wendy, Ava and Aldwin Wood.  We went to the mine and then had lunch in a nearby park. When we got up there Alana had thrown up so she got to wear an extra outfit that Wendy had for Aldwin, that is why she looks like a boy with pigtails.
I think the huge tire was one of the most fascinating things as well as the mine its self! They cost $25,000, you have 6 on the truck and they only last a year.  That is $150,000 a year in tires- yowzers!!! Also the trucks only go about 13 miles an hour.

This random stranger wanted to take a picture with her camera of our cute kids so I got a picture of her too.

The kids were fascinated with this bucket that was on display from the mine.  FYI we learned you are not supposed to get in the bucket and were told to get the kids out.

A visit with the Stucki's

I went up to visit with my Grandma Findlay-Stucki in North Logan we had a great visit. She was able to correct me on my hot pad making skills, I need to make tighter stitches,- which I am thankful for- hopefully my hot pads will look better. Then my Mom watched the kids as I attended a sewing class at the USU Extension office in Logan and made a table runner. It was a 2 hour class and I left with a finished runner that is really cute.

ICE is Nice!!!

I mentioned to Chris that all I wanted for Mother's Day this year was to have our ice maker hooked up.  It is going to be summer soon it was would be nice to have ice.  When Chris gets something into his mind he has to get it done so Sunday May 6th, he was looking into it what we would need to get it working and I reminded him that I had previously (like last year) bought the parts so he decided to fix it right then and there.  I didn't think Sunday was the day to mess with electricity and plumbing but Chris had his mind set so he went to work.
We turned off the water and electricity and waited what seemed like forever for the lines to drain to get working on putting on a new valve to get water to the fridge.  Chris pulled out the fridge and dishwasher. Drilled holes that lined up really well and threaded the hose through. Then put it all back together.  FYI for those DYI'ers dishwashers are not hooked up like you would think with a plug that goes into the wall in the back. Ours has a wire that comes out of the wall that barely reaches to the front of the machine to hook it up and is a pain in the toe to get it where it needed to connect.  This is a pic of Chris' face after he realized what he had to do to get the dishwasher hooked back up.
It took longer then expected but after waiting for 2 1/2 years we have Ice and it is wonderful!!! I don't know how pioneers survived summers in Utah's without ice. I have an amazing husband who listens and gets things done! There are so many reasons to love him!

USU 5K!

We ran the USU 5K for the 3rd year in a row.  Ryker wanted to race this year so he started out and within 15 feet collided with Kaison, one of his friends, and was sprawled out on the asphalt.  He sat in the stroller for a while and after some coaxing ran for a while here and there.  I think he might have ran for about a mile of the race. Chris ran it competitively with a time of 26:10.  I ran and pushed the kids with a less impressive time of 38:55, but I did finish under my goal of 40 minutes. Yeah!!!!!

We had some great friends join us for the race this year.  The Ryerses-Brody can't figure out Big Blue, Stacy who ran with Kaison- the one who is trying to get away- on her shoulders for half the race. Tayla didn't want to get close to Big Blue so Jerry gave her moral support and wasn't in the picture either.

Trip to see the Macherino's

We headed to the BDO (Ogden Business Depot) to check out their deals and met up with Megan Olsen's family - Luke wanted to share the convertible car with Ryker - it wasn't as excited about it and it didn't last too long.

Then we headed out to Tooele to visit the Mascherino's. We took balloons and made some swords to play pirates and Grandma Shauna got in on the action. She was out numbered but she didn't back down.
